Novell GroupWise

How do I download the Instant Messaging software?

  1. Go to the Faculty/Staff portal.
  2. Choose Software Downloads from the Quick Links bar.
  3. Select Windows from the drop-down platform menu.
  4. Select GroupWise 6.5 and GroupWise Messenger.
  5. Click on GroupWise Messenger (Follow the directions for installation).
  6. Remember to use the Novell Network login to access the Instant Messenger application, not your GroupWise username & password. (These may be synchronized as a single login on your computer and in fact, may be the same, but usually they are different).

How do I add a contact to the Messenger List?

  1. In the Actions section in the bottom of the Messenger window, select Add a Contact.
  2. Click on the Advanced button (on the right side of the search window).
  3. Type in the last name, or first name and last name of the person you wish to add.
  4. Click Next.
  5. If the person is listed in the results window, click on their name and click ADD.

Remember that only those who have a Network login will be able to use the Instant Messenger.  It is not a GroupWise-based application, but a Novell Network application.

How do I hold a group conversation?

  1. Highlight those you would like to invite (hold down the Control key and click on each one)
  2. Then right-click on the names and choose Send Message.
  3. This actually invites those individuals before you type anything in the window.
