GroupWise WebAccess is found in the
eWeber portal. This new version of
Groupwise WebAccess is now very
similar to the GroupWise 8 Client
users have been accessing for
several months through the GroupWise
application installed on their
computer.
Items in a folder are now displayed
without paging and can be seen by
scrolling through the list using the
scroll bar. You can also drag and
drop items between folders. The
calendar in the new version is also
very similar to the client and
allows more customizability.
It is important to remember that email
is still not archived in WebAccess. It is
important to use the GroupWise
Client from time to time to ensure
your items are not deleted after 120
days.
Highlighted below are some of the
most noticeable differences between
version 7 and version 8 of GroupWise
Web Access.
Instead of
checking a box, you can now just
highlight the email you want to
select.
To select
multiple emails that are adjacent to
each other, click the first email
and then hold the shift key while
clicking the last email. This will
select all the emails between the
first and last one.
To select
multiple emails throughout the list
that are not adjacent, hold the
control key while clicking on each
email to be selected.
If you click the
Delete icon, it will move the
selected item(s) to the Trash. These
items are kept for 7 days and during
that time they can be “undeleted”.
However, after 7 days they are
permanently deleted.
If you click the
Purge icon, it will permanently
delete the selected item(s). These
items cannot be recovered once they
are purged.
You can now
enhance your email messages with
various fonts as well as using bold,
italics, underline and color. Click
the “HTML” icon to see these
options.

We
recommend this only as a precaution
before upgrading to Groupwise 8.
At this time we have not run into
any problems with the Groupwise
Archive during the upgrade process
but it is a suggested precaution.
Find your
Archive Folder. The default name
is archive.gw5 and it is usually
located on the C: drive. If you
or someone else has changed the
location, it may be on your
network H: drive, your D: drive,
your Documents folder, or the
Novell folder.
Copy the
archive folder to another
location such as your documents
folder or your network H: drive.
Once it has been copied, rename
the copy to backuparchive.gw5
The
Groupwise Install File
is quite large. It is
approximately 87 MB
so it might take a little while
to download and install,
depending on the speed of your
connection.
Groupwise is
only available for Departments
and Employees (Faculty, Staff,
and some Student Workers) of
Weber State University.
Groupwise is
available through the
Applications Folder on your
desktop. To install at home or
on your laptop, please use the
Software Downloads channel in
the eWeber portal.
This is a new
feature of Groupwise 8. When you
send an appointment that includes
yourself, it will automatically
accept the appointment for you
instead of placing it in your
mailbox waiting for you to accept
it.
Groupwise 8 has
new fonts and views. As a result it
may reset your fonts back to the
default Groupwise 8 fonts. To change
this you will need to go to the
Tools pull-down menu and Select
OPTIONS. Then double-click on
Environment and Select the VIEWS
Tab.
To change your
Groupwise Settings, you will need to
go to the Tools pull-down menu and
Select OPTIONS. Then double-click on
Environment or one of the other
choices depending on which settings
you wish to modify.
You will need to
set this up again if you want to use
this Address Book.
Click on the Address Book icon
on the main toolbar (Far left).
Click on Novell LDAP Address
Book.
Click the Directories button.
Click the ADD button.
The Account Name should be
"Wildcat Address Book", click
Next.
Type in the server address as
address.weber.edu, click Finish.
Click the Close button
In order to perform a search on the
directory, you will need to input a
name (for display name, a first name
will do) in the box next to the" >=
" symbol . Remember the
Wildcat mail accounts are
firstnamelastname order.
You must click the RETRIEVE button
to list the results.
Use the Favorites
Area to put the folders you use the
most every day. This way they will
be at the top where you can reach
them quickly and easily. To add a
folder to your favorites,
right-click on the folder and select
"Add to Favorites"
